The entrepreneur journey can be tricky sometimes. You’re hustling because this is what you’ve got to do, right? But did you take your blinders off?

The day passes, and we get caught in our hamster wheel. Eventually, we’re not reaching the results we’re looking for. Worse, we might be out of breath. If you want to make progress in your business, you need to be intentional.

The ability to reflect on what’s working and what’s not will help you get your results faster. Tracking your progress isn’t new, but even when we know we should do it, most of us don’t.

Don’t be part of the people throwing the towel on their dreams because you didn’t implement the right methods. There are two simple techniques you can start applying right now and every week.

It’s time to get control back and be more intentional about your progress.

Plan your week the same way you planned your vision

If you’re building your empire, chances are you have a big goal, a vision. This is the glue holding everything together. You know the milestones you need to reach to stay on track. At least, you have an idea about where you’re going.

Well, the same goes for your months and weeks. You need to plan ahead to reach your goals. Every great achievement is the sum of the small wins collected along the way. And what’s a better way to get those in? With planning.

Every Sunday evening, I take a few minutes to plan my week ahead. What do I want to achieve? How does my week look like? What are the tasks I need to do to get there? Who are the people I need to talk to?

How do you take action

Sunday evening or Monday morning, take some time to think about what’s coming. Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What are the to-dos I need to check off my list until the end of the week to feel good about myself?
  • What are the important appointments I need to consider?

I would also go that far and take a minute to really think your Monday through. It’s the first day of the week, and starting with a strong win is a good kick-off for the coming days.

Do a Friday wrap up

Being intentional about your goals is tracking your progress. It’s giving space to being more strategic by reflecting on what went right, as well as what went wrong. Because a little disclaimer: both are as much important.

Simply checking off tasks on your daily to-do list is not enough to make significant progress. If your business isn’t moving forward even though you feel busy all the time, this method is clearly for you.

I started doing this a few months ago, and it’s been mind-blowing. With this method, I’m quickly aware of the mistakes I’m making and correct the shots faster. Who knows how many times I would repeat the same mistake over and over. Reflecting every week prevents me from doing so.

But I’m not only focusing on what went wrong. I write down the learnings I got during the week, what made me happy, and the achievements I am particularly proud of. Doing this every Friday helps me start fresh on the weekend — even if I work on weekends too.

How do you take action

Every Friday or whatever day you like to do it (you can also use both methods on Sundays), take a few minutes to reflect on your week. I do that with a glass of red wine, but tea does it too.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • What went particularly well this week?
  • What didn’t go as planned?
  • What did I learn this week?
  • What would I like to do differently next week?
  • What am I grateful for?

Write your answers down to remember what strategies you need to keep doing and which you should defo stop doing. Looking back in a few months to your notes will give you that extra push of appreciation of what you’ve been doing.

Final thoughts

Going through your to-do list every week, every month with blinders, might not get you where you want to go. To see results and come closer to your goal, start being intentional and reflect on what you’re doing.

Taking 30 minutes to plan ahead and reflect on the past week help you identify the strategies you should keep doing, and the one that holds you back. If you really mean to see success, you have to be honest and gather your own statistic about yourself.

Do that every week.

Yes, your schedule is full. But what are 30 minutes a week if it gets you faster to your end goal?
